Halftone settings

Here you will find a selection of Halftone Filter/Effect tool settings. These are made freely available to all users of Phantasm CS Designer and Studio.

If you wish to submit some Halftone settings to be made freely available through these pages (credit and a link will be given unless requested otherwise), please contact us.

All examples shown are based on the original image, shown left. Each example halftone setting (contained in a ZIP file) may be downloaded by clicking on the associated link. Alternatively, all settings files may be downloaded in one go - see below.

Download all settings files

How to use

Download the ZIP file and extract the ".PHT" Halftone settings file(s). These can be applied by simply using the Load... function in the Halftone window. See the user manual for more information.

Alternatively, the settings can be added as quickly accessible presets from the Halftone Presets pull-down menu (see manual). On an individual basis, simply load the present and then choose Save Preset... from the Halftone window's Presets pull-down menu.

Adding manually to the Presets menu

If you wish make a selection of Halftone settings available in the Presets menu first quit Illustrator and then copy the .PHT settings files into the Halftone preferences folder.

On a Mac, this folder is located at <User> » Library » Preferences » Astute Graphics » Phantasm CS » Presets » Halftone.

In Windows, first ensure you are able to see hidden folders (Tools » Folder Options... » View (tab) » Show hidden files and folders » OK) and the preferences folder is located at Documents and Settings (typically found on the C: drive) » <User> » Application Data » Astute Graphics » Phantasm CS » Presets » Halftone.

After modifying the contents of this folder manually, Illustrator requires re-starting for any changes to appear in the Halftone Presets menu.
