Vector Halftone Week: the Halftone designs of Daniel Kopton
Having started our Vector Halftone Week, a Phantasm CS customer got in contact to share a couple of his wonderful posters created in Illustrator with the use of the plug-in. Daniel Kopton is a designer based in the United States, specialising in photo retouching and has kindly allowed us to show his personal work.

Daniel’s use of the Halftone tool, especially opting for characters as the “dot” type is combined with further editing as can be seen in the detail of the Bob Dylan poster below:

The second poster, which is another one of Daniel’s personal artwork pieces, uses the same technique creating a very stylised and striking result:

Again, the detail of the artwork makes it so fascinating:

One of Daniel’s clients is Nike who also makes use of the Phantasm CS Halftone tool. Daniel has prepared 8 foot high store mural artwork for Nike which heavily features the vector halftone effect.
But of his own artwork shown above and the Phantasm CS tool, Daniel says:
Great tool. I use it with client jobs all the time but this stuff is a lot more fun.

If you have used the Phantasm CS tool, including the Halftone tool, to create artwork and wish to share it, please let us know!
Thanks to Daniel for sharing.
I recently purchased Phantasm CS , mainly for its Halftone tool. It realy works great while giving you great controle over different parameters. The tool exactly does what I was looking for.
But there is only one question: when having made a vector halftone pattern, I would like to export the pattern as a vector-file, in dwg- or dxf- version. The export menu doesn’t do the job.
Any help on this topic?
Thanks for the kind comment.
The Halftone tool produces standard vector objects. Therefore you simply export the Illustrator document in any format you wish by following File > Export…
There are options to export as DWG and DXF formats. However, note that these are designed for CAD program interchange.
If you have any user questions with regards to Phantasm CS functionality, please contact us directly using the feedback form: http://www.astutegraphics.com/contact/
