GoMediaZine: The wonderful tools of Astute Graphics

The kind people over at GoMediaZine have previously reviewed Astute Graphics’ Phantasm CS plugin for Adobe Illustrator. However, in the past year, new blood has come aboard at GoMediaZine — and in that period Astute Graphics released both Phantasm CS version 2 and VectorScribe. So it was with pleasure when Simon H, their new editor, asked to review these tools from scratch.

The result was a great overview of both Illustrator plugins, written following Simon’s real-world use of them in a commercial design project. His comments include:

I saved so much time when building rather complex shapes for a logo thanks to VectorScribe.

I discovered Phantasm CS and Astute Graphics when looking for a way to produce decent vector halftones. To this day, it’s still the best way I know of to do this. That said, this plugin’s abilities go way beyond that.

I was working on a branding project at the same time, and the time I saved in shape construction is hard to believe.

Thanks to Simon for his review and comments!
