Apologies that recently Halftones appear to have overwhelmed the wider-ranging Phantasm CS toolset, but the material in this posting is derived some development work undertaken while producing the Vector Halftone Week series of articles.
A set of live Effects often overlooked in Illustrator are the 3D tools: Extrude & Bevel, Revolve and Rotate. Not exactly the last word in 3D power, but useful and potentially creative as this tutorial by PixelRockit demonstrates.
At Astute Graphics, the question was how to best combine these 3D Effects with Phantasm CS’ own Halftone Effect tool. Well, some results can be seen below:

These files are provided to allow you to explore the possibilities of 3D Effects further, particularly in combination with the Phantasm CS plugin. Some of the 3D objects, for example, a have a Phantasm CS Curve Effect applied between the 3D Effect and the Halftone Effect to further enhance contrast due to the limitations of absolute control in the 3D tools.
If you have specific questions on how any of these objects were created, please leave a comment and we’ll try to answer.

Wow! Halftone effect on 3D shapes looks awesome. I need to try Phantasm CS
Maybe I’ll come up with some interesting effects and write a tutorial.

Great idea, Bartosz! The end results you came up with using Ai’s limited 3D capabilities was superb. Keep up the great work!
