Britannia 60

Britannia 60 header artwork by Sean Ferguson

Astute Graphics commissions vector artwork from some of the best designers in the world. We know they’re good, otherwise we wouldn’t commission them. But that doesn’t stop us from being truly thrilled as seeing a new design for the first time. As in this case…

We commissioned Sean Ferguson of singlemalt.us to create a celebratory image for this year’s Diamond Jubilee, 60 years of The Queen ascending to the throne. And as we were already very happy, no extremely happy, with Sean’s previous work for us — Major Tom and the SubScribe Designer product logo — we simply let him loose on the concept and execution. If you know a great designer, don’t throttle their creativity.

And this is the result. A wonderful negative space concept design that is sooo British, you’d scarcely believe the mouse that created those points was based in Oklahoma.

The full AG Blog tutorial will be published later this week. Definitely worth the wait. Oh – and the original artwork will also be made available in the future along with a revised DrawScribe full 14 day trial download!

  1. Hi Jack – we are currently discussing producing the Britannia 60 and Von “Keep Calm and Draw On ( http://www.astutegraphics.com/blog/keep-calm-and-draw-on/ ) posters as VERY limited edition (10′s) very high quality screen prints using spot red, blue and two shades of metallic gold. These would be printed at A2 in size, on 100% cotton stock.

IF they were to be done as prints for sale, we would have to first discuss with the designers Sean and Von as they would rightly deserve to profit from this.

But would you want one of the very limited edition and how much would you be willing to pay for something so special? Astute Graphics is not going to make a habit of this, but as a one-off, it interests us great too!

    Your comments appreciated.
