Astute Graphics policy on licensing and installation on second computers

Since the introduction of the new Astute Graphics licensing system in Phantasm CS version 2, it has provided customers the significant benefit of being able to transfer licenses, change between operating systems and Illustrator CS3, CS4 and CS5 without the need to purchase license upgrades. The recently-launched VectorScribe plugin for Adobe Illustrator also uses the same licensing system, providing the same benefits to users.
Astute Graphics’ policy towards the installation of a plugin on a secondary computer was originally outlined in this earlier post. However, since the launch of VectorScribe, we will clarify the situation with installing a license on a secondary computer in this article; the following applies to both Phantasm CS version 2 and VectorScribe.
Going mobile
It is understood that many users have a desktop and laptop computer on which they work with Adobe Illustrator. Astute Graphics’ licensing policy will allow these second machines to be installed simultaneously. This removes the requirement to use the License Manager to de-license an existing installation to transfer to a secondary computer.
Our policy is intended to allow users to only install their second license on a “parallel” machine on which a single person works. It allows the registered owner of the license to install on one more machine than indicated by their purchased volume. We ask that users do not abuse this policy and treat it as a second “free” license to be used by two operators independently.
*Conditions
Astute Graphics reserves the right to reverse this policy at any time if we detect abuse of the system; this may be applied on an individual basis or globally to all users.
I have a question regarding the “second license” that user can install on their secondary laptop or computer.
I am going to purchase the various plug-ins that you offer when they become available for Illustrator CS6 for Windows. But I was wondering if I could use the “second license” to install the plug-ins on my secondary computer which is a MacBook Pro?
Hi Dennis – this is fine. The license key is “OS agnostic”, ie. it can be applied to Windows and/or Mac OS. The license is merely restricted to the number of users in relation with the license key volume. Further details may be found here: http://www.astutegraphics.com/licensing/
Very, very nice page!
